What is NDIS Certification?
NDIS Certification is a formal acknowledgment that an organization meets the quality standards set by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia. Why NDIS Certification?
NDIS Certification is crucial for organizations aiming to deliver high-quality, compliant services under the NDIS. It demonstrates a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and support for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, it builds trust with participants, their families, and stakeholders, showcasing the organization’s dedication to ethical and professional service delivery.
How to Get NDIS Certification?
Obtaining NDIS Certification involves several steps, starting with understanding the NDIS Practice Standards relevant to your services. Organizations must prepare documentation, implement necessary policies, and ensure compliance with standards. An approved auditor conducts a thorough evaluation of processes and practices. After successfully meeting the requirements, the organization receives certification, valid for three years, with periodic reviews.

What is NDIS Certification Audit?
An NDIS Certification Audit is an independent assessment conducted by an approved auditor to evaluate an organization’s compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards. It involves reviewing policies, interviewing staff and participants, and observing practices to ensure quality and safety standards are met. The audit ensures that service providers maintain accountability, transparency, and a focus on participant outcomes.
Becoming a registered NDIS provider involves completing a certification audit with an Approved Quality Auditor (AQA), such as Canopus Consultants. This NDIS Certification Audit is conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: NDIS Certification Audit
This stage focuses on reviewing your business’s key policies and processes to assess your readiness for the next phase. It provides an opportunity for the auditor to identify any gaps in your documentation that you may have overlooked.
Stage 2: NDIS Certification Audit
During this stage, an audit team meets with you and your team, typically over at least one day, to evaluate how effectively your business aligns with the NDIS Practice Standards. They will also outline any steps required to ensure compliance with these standards.
